Common Dental Procedures Explained

At D'Amore Russo Dental Design Studio, we understand that many people may be unfamiliar with common dental procedures and may feel nervous or anxious about undergoing them. In this blog post, we'll explain some of the most common dental procedures and what you can expect from them.

Dental fillings

Dental fillings are used to repair cavities caused by tooth decay. During the procedure, your dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill the space with a material such as composite resin, amalgam, or gold.

Root canal therapy

Root canal therapy is used to treat an infected or damaged tooth root. During the procedure, your dentist will remove the infected tissue and replace it with a filling material. A crown is usually placed on top of the tooth to protect it and restore its function.

Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure used to lighten the color of teeth that have become stained or discolored over time. Your dentist may use a bleaching agent, such as hydrogen peroxide, to whiten your teeth. The procedure can be done in the office or with a take-home kit.

Dental crowns

Dental crowns are used to restore damaged or decayed teeth. During the procedure, your dentist will remove the damaged portion of the tooth and cover it with a crown made of porcelain, ceramic, or metal.

Dental implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. The procedure involves inserting a small metal post into the jawbone, which serves as an anchor for a replacement tooth or bridge.

Orthodontic treatment

Orthodontic treatment is used to correct misaligned teeth and jaws. This may involve the use of braces or clear aligners, such as Invisalign.
